Township Tax Bills - Summer and Winter |
Summer Tax bills are sent to the property owner the last week of June or first week of July. Payment is due on or before September 14, 2008. No postmarks will be accepted. From September 15, 2008 to February 28, 2009 add 1% penalty per calendar month and make payment to the address listed above.
Winter Tax bills are sent to the property owner the last week of November or first week of December. Payment is due on or before February 14, 2009. No postmarks will be accepted. All delinquent tax bills not paid by March 1st are turned over to the County Treasurer at 200 North Main, Suite 200, Ann Arbor, MI 48107. A 4% collection fee, plus interest at the rate of 1% per month will be added. The County Treasurer's office telephone number is (734) 222-6600 if you need to contact them.
The Treasurer's Office does not accept POST DATED checks. Post dated checks will be returned to the property owner.
If your taxes are escrowed, please contact your escrow holder to make sure that your taxes have been paid. You will receive a receipt showing that the tax bill has been paid. If you need an additional copy of your bill please contact Shelly Pike,Treasurer at 517-456-7238.
You can pay your tax bill at Comerica Bank. The following locations accept Bridgewater Township property taxes up until the due date of the tax bill. You will receive a date stamped receipt.

You can also mail your payment by sending the bottom portion of the tax bill along with your payment to the Treasurer at the above address. If you would like to pay your taxes directly to the Treasurer, please call to arrange a time to drop off your taxes or drop your payment in the mail slot in the front of the Treasurer's garage. Make checks payable to Bridgewater Township. Checks are accepted only as a conditional payment. If not honored by the bank, the tax bill will be restored as unpaid in the tax roll without further notice and will be subject to all interest and penalty charges. Please keep the top portion of your Tax Bill as your receipt.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Township Treasurer
- Collects real and personal property taxes
- Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues) and expenditures
- Disburses township checks
- Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
- Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
- Collects deliquent personal property tax
- Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting delinquent personal property tax
- Collects mobile home specific tax
- Must appoint a deputy
- Must post a surety bond
